Survival datapacks

Minecraft survival datapacks you can generate on demand

Survival worlds get stale long before they run out of chunks. Datapacks are the lightest way to change that: no mods for players to install, no server plugins to maintain, just a zip in the world folder. ModCrafter generates survival packs to your exact taste — gentler, harsher, or simply different.

Quality-of-life packs

The most-installed survival packs are small conveniences: keeping your inventory in specific situations, faster crop growth, more useful villager trades, or recipes for items that are otherwise uncraftable. Each one is a few files and takes seconds to generate.

  • Craftable horse armor, name tags, or elytra
  • Silk touch spawners and other gathering tweaks
  • Faster or slower growth, smelting, and breeding
  • Death-related rules like keeping XP or dropping a grave chest

Difficulty and progression packs

On the other side, survival packs can make the world genuinely dangerous: armored mobs, night-time buffs, hunger that drains faster, or gated progression where an achievement unlocks the next tier of recipes. Ask for a whole ruleset in one prompt and refine it as you play.

Running several packs together

Multiple datapacks can coexist as long as they use different namespaces and do not override the same vanilla files. ModCrafter picks a distinct namespace per pack, so stacking a drops pack, a mobs pack, and a recipes pack usually just works. Use /datapack list in game to check what is loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Are survival datapacks safe for an existing world?

Datapacks change rules rather than terrain, so they are generally safe to add to an existing world. Back up the world first if a pack rewrites loot or recipes you rely on.

Can I remove a datapack later?

Yes. Delete the zip from the datapacks folder and run /reload, or use /datapack disable to turn it off.

Do all players need to install anything?

No. Datapacks are server-side. On a multiplayer server only the server needs the pack.

Which Minecraft versions are supported?

Current and recent Minecraft Java Edition releases. Pick your version in the composer before generating.
